BIPOC Caucus

Get involved with the BIPOC Caucus!

The BIPOC Caucus seeks to provide ongoing support and networking opportunities and to develop anti-racism strategies proposed by racialized members. We hope that Black, Indigenous, and racialized CWCA/ACCR members will join the BIPOC Caucus to discuss, strategize, and advance decolonization and anti-racism in writing centre work. Find out more in the Fall 2022 blog about the BIPOC Caucus!

Meetings are held monthly. Your agenda ideas are welcome, so please contact Sheila Batacharya at s.batacharya@utoronto.ca for information about meeting details.

Additionally, you can use this anonymous survey (6 questions) to convey your interests and concerns.

BIPOC Caucus Poetry Project

“Indigenous Writing Helps Us Take Care of Each Other,” Jessie Loyer’s presentation at the 2024 CWCA/ACCR Conference, was comforting and and inspiring.

Subsequently, the Caucus met and decided to start the Poetry Project: a project that features BIPOC creative writing about Writing Centre work. This project aims to hold space for Caucus members by increasing our presence and effectively communicating our ongoing meetings, goals, and initiatives. This project is also a way to engage members in a low-labour manner that affords sharing without the high demand of research work.

Please take a few minutes to answer this survey that asks a few questions to get us started. Thank you!
