About:

Founded in 2019 by Stephanie Bell, Liv Marken, and Brian Hotson, the Canadian Writing Centre Review / revue Canadienne des centres de rédaction (CWCR/RCCR) is a professional periodical in blog form. It is an outlet for scholarly writing on writing centre and writing centre-adjacent theory, pedagogy, administration, mentorship, histories, and stories specific to Canadian contexts.

The CWCR/RCCR is intended to serve as a place for writing centre and writing centre-adjacent administrators, instructors, peer tutors, and student writers to discuss and document their scholarly work and collectively create an account of current activities of interest and importance to this diverse Canadian community. The CWCR/RCCR aims to capture the places, people, and contexts shaping writing centre and writing centre-adjacent practices, pedagogies, and developments.

CWCR/RCCR Goals

  • CWCR/RCCR seeks to grow the culture of publication among the community of writing centre professionals in Canada.
  • CWCR/RCCR facilitates collective storytelling about Canadian sites of writing tutoring and mentorship from administrators, instructors, tutors, and student writers.
  • CWCR/RCCR provides opportunities for peer and student tutors across contexts to share their practices with each other, as well as to grow and develop their scholarly work.
  • CWCR/RCCR values, celebrates, and features the diversity of Canadian sites of writing tutoring and mentorship, including their staff, instructors, student/peer tutors, student writers, and organizational contexts.
