Submissions
Authors are invited to submit pieces of approximately 500-2000 words about writing mentorship in writing centre contexts or writing instruction, including higher education, primary and secondary schools, and other private and public institutions. Submissions can be focused on any aspect of writing centre, writing centre-adjacent, and writing-instruction work, including the following:
- Program descriptions
- Narratives about major transitions or shifts at your centres
- Resource sharing: handouts, policy books, guidelines, planning manuals annotated with your notes for putting them into action
- Critical reflections or reflections on teaching strategies
- Opinion pieces
- Perspectives on writing centre work, administration, and practice
- Announcements of interest to the writing centre field/community
- Other: We welcome suggestions and proposals for other formats and styles.
Submissions can be monolingual or multi- or trans-lingual as well as multimodal, using the languages and modalities most germane to the content/topic/purpose of the piece. We encourage multimodal submissions that engage in storytelling and theory-building through text, visual, music, sound, and video. Blog posts can be in a variety of styles or formats – personal stories, new practices, or interviews.
All submissions are considered by at least two members of the editorial collective. Accepted submissions will receive editorial feedback from the collective. This review process is not anonymous (the reviewers will be able to see your name and you’ll be able to see who is reviewing your document). We recommend that prospective authors submit a short proposal as a first step, to ensure fit.
Please format references according to the most current edition of APA style. Please see the blog’s style guide.
