Learning Skills Specialist (Writing) Part-Time, Student Services (Brandon University)

Applications are invited for a part-time (50%) tenure-track appointment as a Learning Skills Specialist in the Academic Skills Centre of Student Services. Join a University that supports a growing intercultural and multi-lingual student body.

Writing Skills practitioners work with students to develop their writing skills and assist them throughout the writing process. Duties include the development, implementation, evaluation and revision of programming to meet the writing skills needs of individual students and groups of students. The successful candidate will provide writing skills programming with an emphasis on registered students who are linguistically and culturally diverse. Experience in the design and delivery of fundamental concepts of English as an additional language of instruction in a post-secondary setting is preferred. Active participation in the general initiatives in Student Services is expected.

Successful applicants must hold a Masters degree in a related field and a TESL or TESOL certificate. Teaching experience in an EAP or ESL classroom is prefered. Overseas learning and/or teaching experience will be considered an asset. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Start Date: August 19, 2019
Professional Associate salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Range: $31,028 – $48,827
