Looking for ways to be more involved in the International Writing Centers Association and to invigorate your writing center work? Consider chairing an IWCA event!
We are now accepting applications for two event chair positions for 2018:
(1) Chair the IWCA 2018 conference in Atlanta, Georgia in October. The conference chair works closely with the IWCA VP and board to coordinate all aspects of the annual conference. Among other things, conference chairs craft the conference theme, help select the keynote speaker, arrange readers for conference proposals, handle registrations, and set the conference schedule. Responsibilities for the chair are spelled out in our conference guide: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5zFb-2nC1LnTEdvVDFDbFlidjA/view?usp=sharing. This is a one-year commitment. (Two people can apply together to co-chair this event if desired.)
(2) Co-chair the IWCA 2018 Collaborative in Kansas City in March. This conference chair also works closely with the IWCA VP and board to coordinate all aspects of the annual one-day event. Among other things, conference chairs craft the collaborative theme, arrange readers for conference proposals, handle registrations, and set the schedule. This person will work with Lauri Dietz in 2018 and agree to co-chair the Collaborative in 2019 in Pittsburgh; thus, this is a two-year commitment.
If you are interested in one of these positions, please write a brief letter (no more than 2 pages) detailing your ideas for the event, any relevant experience, and any institutional support that might be available for you as you take on one of these roles. Please only apply for one position. Submit your letter to Jackie Grutsch McKinney (firstname.lastname@example.org) by April 15, 2017. Appointments will be decided by the IWCA executive board and Conferences and Institute committee.
